Talking with our Men's Group

We've asked the men who attend our Gay and Bisexual Men's Group a couple of questions about the group to give people an idea of what to expect. Here's what they said!

Whats your favourite thing about the Men's Group?

"The other people. Everyone is really nice."

"Meeting a mixture of people."

"Everyone coming together to make friends, share experiences and support each other. It's also really easy to get tested for HIV every month and get free condoms and lube."

"Being able to talk to other gay and bi men without being 'hit on'. Wonderful staff."

"Social - meeting lovely guys and making new friends."

"Meeting old friends and meeting new ones."

"Learning new skills and sharing information."

"Friends, chat, coffee."

"Making new friends."

"A warm welcome for everyone."

"The quizzes and the interaction."

What advice would you give to someone who's thinking of coming to the Men's Group?

"Come along. It's fun."

"You will be made comfortable, a good social meeting, coffee and biscuits are good too."

"Your first time can feel scary but the moment you come through the door the staff and members offer a very warm welcome and it wasn't long before I was calling them friends."

"Come with an open mind and remember that most people there already know each other very well. Don't fear that as you will soon build the same relationships in time."

"Don't be scared or frightened. You are made welcome and you will make new friends. We do a lot of fun things and events."

"Come and give it a try, you don't know what you are missing!"

"Engage and build a confidence of yourself."

"Come along it's fun!"

"Just come along and meet everyone. Then decide if you want to come again."

"Give it a try! You don't know what you're missing!"

"Don't think highly of the members - we don't think highly of ourselves too!!!"

Aged 18+ and a gay/bi guy? Come along to our Men's Group, every Wednesday, 7-9.30pm at The Piccadilly Centre in Hanley! Find more info on our Men's Group webpage.
