The Sexual Health Prevention Team in Stoke-on-Trent have extended their HIV testing drop-in times and added extra sessions for the end of summer. People can take a quick fingerprick test, which takes just 20 minutes to give results, to ensure they know their HIV status.
The drop-in sessions will be held at The Piccadilly Centre in Hanley and the times and dates of the drop-ins are as follows:
Tuesday 29th August 10am-4pm
Wednesday 30th August 10am-8pm
Thursday 31st August 10am-8pm
Friday 1st September 10am-4pm
Andrew Horton, Senior Project Worker in the Sexual Health Prevention Team, said: “We want to keep HIV at the forefront of everyone’s minds throughout the year, and we feel the end of summer is a good time to remind people to get tested. People may have had unprotected sex whilst on holiday during Pride month celebrations, at a summer festival, or they may have simply had new sexual partners since their last test. We always encourage people to get an early diagnosis as it ensures they can make choices around treatment and stay healthy.”
